About Amy Romaine
The founder and senior partner of ROMAINE & NUGENT. Amy consults with clients and helps them with estate planning, probate, trust administration and elder law.
After serving in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, Ms. Romaine was honorably discharged to attend St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami. After earning her Juris Doctor in December 2002, she was hired as an associate in a Melbourne law firm that focused on personal injury and civil litigation. In May of 2005, Ms. Romaine formed the Law Office of A. M. Romaine, PA, which became Romaine & Nugent in 2020.
Today, this practice is dedicated to handling estate planning, trust administration, and probate on behalf of our clients.
About Laurel Nugent
Laurel Nugent is a founding partner of ROMAINE & NUGENT who focuses primarily on trust and estate planning. She is licensed to practice law in Florida and Oregon and is also a Florida Supreme Court Certified County Mediator.
Laurel graduated from Vermont Law School where she participated in a dual degree program with the University of Cergy-Pontoise in France where she earned two master's degrees in law. In 2012 she formed her firm Nugent Law, PA, which merged and became Romaine & Nugent in 2020.
Outside her practice, Laurel has volunteered with WeVenture and the Women’s Business Center as a mentor and guest speaker for new and second stage businesses. She is one of the original members of the Heart & Soul Dragon Boat Club and served as a board member and head coach for nearly a decade.
Our Staff
Macey Bassett
Macey is a legal assistant and Florida Notary Public at Romaine & Nugent. Born and raised in Vermont, Macey moved to Brevard County with her husband in 2020. Prior to joining Romaine & Nugent, Macey worked with the Brevard County Clerk of the Court in Viera, FL. She loves volunteering, pickleball, and spending time with her husband, her golden retriever Kal, and her maine coon Huck.
Maria Requena
Maria is the office manager/administrative assistant at Romaine & Nugent. She has returned to our office after a 2 year hiatus and brings with her impeccable time management and organization skills. She is a Florida Notary public. Born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Maria grew up in Brevard County and is a wife and mother of adorable 4 children. Maria is a HUGE Marvel and Disney fanatic.
